Lw-field division with splinter-camo field jacket, pants, collar and helmet Lw-blue.Lw-eagle on chest,belt-buckle, helmet and backpack.Decrations:Iron cross 1./2.class,black wound badge. The field divisions were mainly raised to guard and protect airfields in conquered territory.Esp in eastern Europe partisan attacks became a constant danger. But after the disastrous losses of men and material in the battles of Stalingrad and Kursk, these divisions were more and more \"volunteered\" for pure infantry combat. With only little infantry training and improvised equipment, they faced heaviest casualties in Russia. In the west, with more time for training(first combat actions not before 1944),they withstood better. I chose the field division as an alternative for paratroopers,as you can see they look quite good on the Monte Cassino map. photographs and research done on the Imperial Japanese Army uniforms. These were based off the IJA 109th Inf Division which occupied Iwo Jima however most IJA units wore the same type of uniform. These should be very historically accurate. _________________ Corrections or changes to the original Battlefield 1942 Japanese Uniforms are as follows.. These uniforms were modified to match the common IJA green tones from the default BF1942 khaki colored uniforms which more resemble the Navy Landing Forces. Assault class, engineer class, and scout class now have IJA green helmet with netting. The IJA \"gold star\" brass emblem has been added to the front of the helmet. Medic class now wears the green cloth covered helmet with the cloth IJA gold star emblem sewn on the front. As with our Naval Landing Forces set, the Engineer class has the \"prayer flag\" sewn on to the back of his backpack. These were commonly attached to the clothing or simply carried by many Japanese soldiers both Army and Navy. They were small rising sun flags with Shinto prayers written on them. The prayer flag used in this skin mod is a real scan of an actual prayer flag used in the Pacific War. All classes wear the IJA red badges sewn on the collars. The red badges in this mod have two gold stars which depict \"private first class\".
historically accurate. A good majority of the Japanese soldiers portrayed on the Battlefield 1942 Maps would have been IJN Landing Force troops or \"Imperial Marines\". In most cases these troops were better trained than those of the Japanese Army. Proof of this can be seen due to the following comments from their U.S. counterparts... \"Naval units of this type are usually more highly trained and have a greater tenacity and fighting spirit than the average Japanese Army unit.\" \"Imperial Marines have earned the respect of their American counterparts for their espirit, discipline, marksmanship, proficiency with heavy weapons, small unit leadership, manifest bravery, and a stoic willingness to die to the last man.\" U.S. 2nd Marine Division Intelligence Staff
DC USMC Woodland Fatigues

ltcoltitus_usmc_woodland_fatigues_dc.zip | 2.61 MB

so inspired when I finished the desert BDUs (and the black guy) that I decided to go ahead and finish the Woodland pattern BDUS, and HOT DIGGIDY DAMN THEY FRIGGIN RULE ASS!!! Again these are the ones you have probably seen in the news recently (the new fatigues with the dotted pattern) and there\'s nothing too special about them, except their beauty...These are without a doubt 6 times better than any other DC skin you have ever D/loaded (GUARANTEED!) They actually blend you into the environment, I swear It works I\'ve been testing (hah, not really, they\'ve been done since last night, I\'ve just been playing with them) them and they actually make you look like you\'re trying to hide yourself (actually the Desert ones have the same effect.) As with my Desert BDUS I included the brand new (THE FIRST ONE, EVER) black marine with this file, and also I made \"camouflage make-up\" for the Marines (the caucasian ones :P) They look simply amazing...I\'m surprised the came out as well as they did, considering I only spent about 5 hours on each one (desert and woodland.) The only hard part in making these was finding the pattern for actual skin (you\'d be surprised how stupidly hard that was.) But I did it, just like I said I would so now I\'ll stop typing and let you get to your battlefield. FIGHT WITH STYLE!! TO INSTALL: (DCTextures set HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) Extract the skins you want to the proper folder; EXAMPLE: (If you would want to put it here) C:\\Program Files\\EA GAMES\\Battlefield 1942\\DCTextures\\Kharkov This skin (woodland) works extremely well with any level, but I recommend Stalingrad, Kursk, and kharkov for super badass camouflaged combat. Special thanks: PorkN\'Beans skinning tutorial bf1942files.com planetbattlefield.com USMC (Dont Sue ME!) Dice/EA PC GAMER :P again I hope you enjoy these skins, use them wisely! they can turn against you when you play as iraquis.(BELIEVE ME, they blend in alot better than you\'d expect just check out the screenshots I\'m including with this file. modeler, thanks to both Tamiya corp (1/35 models) and the internationally celebrated modeler Fracois Verlinden. When I discovered that it was possible to make custom skins for BF1942, I figured out that it would be a good thing to post a SS unit that could be ACCURATELY used on most of the European fronts availables in Battlefield 1942: - KHARKOV - KURSK - OMAHA - BOCAGE - OMAHA - BATTLE OF THE BULGE Could also be used with MARKET GARDEN, but definitely NOT in BERLIN Das Reich division fought in Poland, France, Russia, France (1944) and ended it\'s operations in Eastern Europe: \"SS-Panzer-Division Das Reich was formed Oct 1939 from the Deutschland, Germania and Der Führer regiments. It took part in the campaign in the west 1940 and after spending some time guarding the border with Vichy France it was transferred to the Netherlands. It took part in the campaign in the Balkans where a small detachment led by SS-Hauptsturmführer Klingenberg managed to get the mayor of Belgrade to surrender the city without a fight. Das Reich took part in the invasion of the USSR and fought on the frontlines until Aug when it was withdrawn from refitting. It was sent back to the front Sep and a few months later it took part in the failed offensive against Moscow. It was transferred to France Mars 1942, with the exeption of a small kampfgruppe, where it was upgraded to a panzergrenadier division. It was sent back to the Eastern front Jan 1943 where it took part in the capture and recapture of Kharkov as well as fighting at Kursk (...) It took part in the heavy fighting in Normandy before retreating into Germany. It later took part in the fightin in the Ardennes, Hungary and Austria\".
AQUILA\'S DEUTSCHE AFRIKA KORPS V.1.0

aquilas_deutsche_afrika_korps_v_1.0.zip | 1.03 MB

a WIDE variety of tunics, shirts, knickers in an even wider range of tints! The tunics were either olive-drab/grey (yet, NOT feldgrau) dark yellow, or tan / beige. On some wartime color pictures (like the one included in my \"DAK Documents.jpg\" file) one can notice that there are barely two identical uniforms!!! So, for camo/tactical reasons, I decided to go for a \"sand\" colored bluse. It is by far a wiser choice than EA/DICE incredible \"fluo\" green tunic (it is. IMHO, their WORST uniform ever, by the way!) My tunic is featuring FLAT pockets, 1 1/2 the size of regular pockets. Dark yellow trousers were definitely a standard (if not the sole, at least, the main) and there was no hesitation in picking up that color (EVEN EA knew that *lol*). I\'ve working a lot with brightness contrast effect (and 45 minutes with Photoshop\'s airbrushes!) to get them a baggy look. B) OPEN COLLAR TUNIC A standard for the Afrika Korp, the Luftwaffe infantery and some of the troops based in Italy. EA\'s automatic features were bypassed by transforming the usual TUNIC collar into a SHIRT collar, with satisfying results.(just like I did with my DAS REICH late war Uniform V 1.0) C) KNEE HIGH LACED BOOTS SPECIFIC to the DAK, it existed in a ankle boot version. Made from both red-brown leather AND canvas. D) HOBNAILS (heels) Another (NOW) standard in my production. E) COLLAR PATCHES & SOULDER BOARDS OBERFELDWEBEL= Master sergeant F) DAK CUFFTITLE Standard, even though there were MANY versions to choose from. That one is one of the earliest & most famous. G) CHICKEN WIRE HELMET COVER (scouts) Our snipers now look great with a newly added REALISTIC chicken wire (!!!) \"net\". I doubt, however, that EA\'s idea of generating leafs as a desert camo is a good one : if you see a bush (or BUSH...) moving in the middle of a desert S-H-O-O-T !!!!*lol* I) MEDALS & DECORATIONS a) Spanienkreuz: Our storm trooper is a veteran of the Spanish civil War, presumably from the former \"Legion Condor\" - worn on the right breats pocket. b) Spanish Civil War wounded medal : lower left breast pocket c) Iron cross first class - left breast pocket (and ribbon) e) Ribbon bar: North African Front (obvious!) - above left breast pocket f) DAK version of the national emblem (eagle) light blue thread on a orange/brown outline - over the right breast pocket k) Dark yellow (painted) \"Gott mitt uns\" Whermacht belt buckle J) LEATHER SUSPENDERS Olive or dark yellow canvas suspenders and belt were a common but non exclusive feature of the DAK equipment. IF NO BROWN LEATHER suspenders were issued, brown leather belts were distributed randomly in North Afrika. However, the regular black leather suspenders and belt were widely used and there as shown on many wartime photographs. For a matter of “artistic” contrast and aesthetic color balance, I’ve decided to keep the regular black equipment, minus the usual aluminum / feldgrau (late war) buckle and to replace it with the official “Gott mitt un” buckle spayed in dark yellow (or flat olive drab in some cases). NOTE: EA\'s ORIGINAL MODELS do NOT allow us to provide an ACCURATE depiction of the following elements: - Any Sniper, flag bearer, specialty badges etc... should be displayed on the LEFT sleeve any attempt to use such badges in BF1942 resulted in a ridiculously over-charged model since the badges appear on BOTH arms. The idea (a great one) was the dropped... AQUILA caius_julius@hotmail.com
AQUILA'S SS HEAVY WINTER SUITS V.1.1

ss_heavy_winter_suit_1.1.zip | 1.39 MB

revised edition) Osprey asked illustrator Jeffrey Burn to depict the warmer version of the Parks/overtrousers kit, featuring a largefur-lined hood. That version was presumably issued to special troops, among which the SS units. Grapically, EA's german MODEL did ONCE AGAIN prevented me from rendering the paddy shape of that special outfit. However, I chose the "fur-lined hood" version because it gave me the opportunity to bypass the Shoulder tabs and collar features, which are usually absent from Winter equipment, by giving them the same furry feel than hood-lining. They still show, when one looks closer, but the overall impression is great and faithful to the original "feel". B) SUSPENDERS WERE REMOVED A personal choice: most of the wartime pictures show no suspenders OVER the parka. On one of the pictures I included with this set, you can clearly see a german trooper wearing his belt, which is great news: it allows us to save it ( I am in love with the SS belt buckle *LOL*) so the cartridge pouches won't look like they were sewn right on the parka! :) C) THE FRONT BUTTONS Another dilemma: The official record says the suit was issued with 6 front buttons: Osprey shows 4 of them while some wartime pictures shows none! I decided to go for the 6 buttons version, with 5 showing above and 1 being located a few inches below the belt buckle. D) MUD STAINS OK, immaculate suits would sure look great under the sun, but let's be realistic: who could expect to spend days and nights laying down in the melting snow, kneeling in mud spots and running through a pine forest without any apparent flaws? Those killers were not bringing back their suit to mommy each night asking "please use SHOUT and TIDE to make it look like new again; I need it back in two hours"!!! So I thought mud stains would be enhancing the overall look... Am I right? E) TROUSERS Once again, I got a BIG headache while attempting to render the trousers properly: hope you will excuse me for that "average" result. Let's email EA asking them to include 3 versions for the Germun_r.dds file!!! One vith paddy pants, one with gaiters, one with the current setting ( Shorts would look great for Afrika Korp and Desert rats though!). It is actually nearly impossible to obtain a satisfying result when skinning pants for LATE WAR german troops... F) GERMAN RED CROSS As I located the correct shields for the medic stahlhelm I suddenly faced a dilemma: wich side to choose? The Eagle shield looked great, but the RED CROSS on it was rather discreet... On the other hand, the RED CROSS shield with a swastika in the center was a little dull... Let's face it: all SS skins designers (including myself) almost automatically choose to display the SS shield rather than it's opposite (swastika). The same goes for the Whermacht soldiers who, 9 times out of 10, are featuring the EAGLE SHIELD (instead of the national black-white-red decal). This time, I took the liberty to mix both sides to create a shield that shows both the Red Cross and the Eagle... I'm sticking to that solution unless you fellows ask me not to do so. UPGRADES: 1) ARMBANDS Whith no ranks or patches specialty patches, all the soldiers wearing the white camo suit were looking quite the same. The German Hauptquartier issued a serie of colorful narrow armbands that were therefore an equivalent of "tactical marks" for the winter suit. It was mainly used to identify a unit, with the color changing nearly daily, to confuse the ennemy. The armband(s) was (were) tied to the upper part of the sleeve(s) by a button already fixed on the coat itself. EA's models being what they are, it was impossible to use only one armband, as suggested by few wartime photographs and by the re-enactemnt picture dipayed in the JPEG file titled "doc.jpg" (included along with my DDS files in the current ZIP). However, a sketch fom a 1943 nazi uniform catalog suggest that 2 armbands were also used in some occasions. The Version 1.1 includes soldiers wearing such a (green) armban on EACH sleeve. 2) WHITE HELMET COVERS * NEW white helmet covers (for scouts) are offered here in a realistic way. You can see the side clips among many other details. Hope you enjoy! 3) FELT BOOTS (GAITERS) Felt boots OR felt gaiters were distributed to some of the Eastern Front soldiers for their obvious "insulating" properties. The two large leather patches on the back of the version 1.1 are in fact reinforcement straps. 4) HOBNAILS Hobnails (heels) will be featured on each of my "German" work to come. It is therefore to be considered as a "standard" feature. 5) THE PARKA On Version 1.0, I wrongly represented the parka as it would be left-buttoned: it as now been corrected. Extra dirt and sewing lines were added for more realism. 6) HEAD WRAPPING * As shown on wartime archives, soldiers were wrapping long (feldgrau, white or even black) scarves around their face to mainly protect themselve against cold weather. It is therefore correctly displayed in the actual skin. 7) WHITE MITTS* I know it is becoming quite repetitive, but we can once again put the blame on EA if we are unable to produce MITTS rather than gloves. White gloves are therefore the only actual solution. 8) "FROSTY" FACES! Well, a little fantasy that turned out to produce very good results: Who the heck could be spending days and days at minus 25o with no side effects? Those "alte kameraden" are no exceptions, and I consequently decided to put a light touch of red on their cheeks, nose and forehead to add some realism to the scene.
knee-high boots and ankle boots were part of the outfit, even though, the later was soon the sole version available (except for higher ranks). The ankle boots were worn with or without gaiters, depending on the trousers. CAMO A detail concerning the camo outfits used by HG div: they were equiped with WAFFEN SS camo smock and helmet covers, unlike all the other Luftwaffe related units which were distributed Wehrmacht-patterns camo accessories. That decision (from Summer 1942) was due to the insufficient stock of Heer camo suits at that particular time of the war. The Tarnjackes (camo TUNICS) were gradually replaced by Wehrmacht camo issued bluse, and the same goes for the helmet covers. CUFFTITLE The cufftitle was displayed on the RIGHT lower sleeve, unlike the SS units who wore it on the left arm. RANKS AND PIPING The Hermann Goring Division initially wore white collar patches piped with the various branch-of-service colors and white piping on the shoulder straps. However, this changed as the war progressed. As of January 1943, shoulder straps were piped white and the collar patches were piped as follows: - Grenadier and Guard Regiments–white (with narrow black dividing line); - armor, anti-tank and reconnaissance regiments–pink; - artillery and anti-aircraft–red; - signals–golden brown; - supply–light blue From April 1943, the style was reversed–all collar patches were now to be piped in white and the shoulder straps were to be piped in the branch-of-service color as follows: - Grenadier and Guard regiments–white; - rifle (Jager) regiments–rifle green; - armor–pink; - armored reconnaissance–golden yellow; - artillery and anti-aircraft–red; - engineers–black; supply–light blue; - Field Police–light blue (which changed to orange in June 1943) The final change came in January 1944 when the white collar patches were ordered removed altogether for obscure reasons: officially, they were too flashy, but one can wonder why it took so long ( afew months before the War ended!) before the High Command noticed it... It is presumably because money, time and fabric was cruely missing in those last days. Collar rank (metal wings) was therefore to be attached directly to the collar. HELMET No specific helmet: Luftwaffe blue/gray helmet and decals (even though, from 1942 on, the national tri-colored shield on right side was left blank, i.e: no decal at all. The Luftwaffe eagle remained on the right side). I have been using chicken wire once again for camo devices ;) THE DECORATIONS: - Luftwaffe close combat bar (above left breast pocket) - Luftwaffe Ground Attack medal ( left breast pocket) - Iron cross 1st class (and ribbon) - RANK: Obergefreiter (Corporal)
the risk of fouling harness lines. To hold the helmet in position, it was fitted with a chinstrap which divided so as to pass in front of and behind each ear. The helmet’s inner consisted of a dome-shaped pierced with circular ventilation holes. This was held in position inside the steel shell by a band of strong but flexible aluminium, backed with resilient rubber padding, and fixed to the shell by four screws. These screws also served to anchor neck and chin straps to the rear and both sides. Early versions were painted on the inside and outside with a rust-preventative matt blue-grey paint. Helmets issued and worn later in the war, when the Fallschirmjager were being used in the infantry role, were frequently painted dark grey-green, a more practical colour than the blue-grey. Fallschirmjager helmets used in North Africa, Sicily and Italy and other countries with a hot, dry climate were usually overpainted in a sandy-buff colour, sometimes sand was sprinkled on the wet paint that when dried gave a non-reflecting surface. In snow-covered terrain a matt-white finish was achieved by a thick coat of whitewash – preferable to white paint because when spring arrived the whitewash could be scrubbed off with water and the helmet restored to its original colour. Fallschirmjager helmets bore the same pattern of insignia as used on the steel helmet worn within the Luftwaffe, the Luftwaffe eagle on the left side and the tricolour shield on the right. However, in the summer of 1940 orders were published abolishing the black, white and red shield for the duration. Helmet coverings were common and ranged from a professional-looking cloth cover with a sewn on band, to ad hoc attempts to disrupt the helmet’s solid outline, such as chicken wire, sacking or cloth netting, into which camouflage could be inserted. - Note: In my skin, the special helmet has been substituted with the regular helmet because of obvious MODEL limitations. It appears however that at some extent M-35 / M40 / M42 etc... were used, due to the post 1943 shortages that considerably affected the German War effort. B - JUMP-SMOCK - In all, there were three models of jump smock issued to the Fallschirmjager. The first was replaced before the outbreak of war. These garments, which were worn over equipment for the jump, were usually removed as soon as soon as possible after landing and then worn under the belt kit and equipment. The second model was also a pre-war design and was produced in olive-green, waterproof gabardine. To hold the smock in position or to prevent it riding up, this pattern had short legs permanently fastened at the crutch, with a central front opening from neck to crutch secured by a fly-fronted heavy-duty brass zipper, and long sleeves fastening at the wrist. The smock had four large pockets: two diagonal openings on the chest and two horizontal openings on the thigh, each of which was closed by zip-fastener concealed by fly-fronted flaps. The national emblem was sewn on the upper right breast. Rank insignia in the shape of large-size ‘wings’ were worn on both the upper arms. The third model, and final pattern of Fallschirmjager smock, was manufactured from ‘splinter’ pattern camouflage material. It was similar to the previous model in many ways, but, most noticeably, it did not have step-in legs, and so appeared to be longer in the body. The lower edge of the smock had press stud fasteners, which enabled the skirt to be gathered in around the thighs, and secured to form short ‘legs’. Like the second-pattern smock, it had two diagonal pocket openings on each side of the chest and two horizontal pocket openings at the front just below waist level. All were closed by zip fasteners and all were concealed by a fly-fronted flap. Two more openings, one on each hip, gave access to the trouser pockets. At the back on the right buttock was a built-in holster to accommodate a flare pistol. On the opposite rear side of the skirt was a single loop of cloth, set diagonally, to accommodate the end of an entrenching tool handle. Both these innovations reflected the state of the parachute arm since the Crete campaign, as after the severe mauling inflicted on the Fallschirmjager in this campaign, a change in their role meant that they were no longer expected to jump from aircraft, but to fight as normal infantry. Note: The only way to bypass the standard features of EA\'s basic German model was to color both the lower tunic and the upper trousers so they can \"visually merge\" in a decently convincing effect. C - GLOVES These were of black or brown leather and had an extended gauntlet-type wrist, elasticated on the back to give a tight fit to the wrist and lower forearm. They were unlined for summer wear and fur-lined for cold weather wear. D - JUMP TROUSERS The trousers were manufactured from field-grey woollen cloth, loose fitting and gathered at the ankle so that they fitted into the tops of the lace-up boots. This arrangement gave the trousers a loose ‘bagged’ appearance. On the outside of each trouser leg just above the knee was an opening set into the seams and kept closed by three concealed press-stud fasteners. These openings permitted easy removal of the internal knee protectors when these were worn. Additionally, the right leg had an external wedge-shaped flap sewn into the seam and secured by two further press-studs. The Fallschirmjager’s utility knife, known as the gravity knife, was housed in this narrow pocket on the inside of the leg. E - KNEE PROTECTORS & KNEE PADS (Not featured in this skin) To protect their kneecaps from the heavy abrasions or serious injury easily caused by a difficult parachute landing, Fallschirmjager were initially issued with knee protectors. These consisted of a pair of flat, kapok-filled rectangular canvas-covered pads worn directly over the kneecaps inside the trouser legs, and tied in position with tapes or laces. Although they provided sufficient protection for air drops, they proved a hindrance if worn on the march, tending to restrict movement of the knees and rapidly causing chaffing to the skin. The pads were removed as soon as possible after a parachute descent, the two slit side openings in the paratrooper’s jump trousers allowing this to be done. Knee pads soon replaced the earlier knee protectors. They consisted of six rubber horizontal pads formed from sorbo rubber and covered with either black or dark brown leather, or later by olive green cloth. Each pad was held in position by a set of two strong elasticated and adjustable straps which crossed behind the knee and clipped on to small button-hooks on the opposite side of the pad. Unlike the earlier knee protectors, these pads were worn over the trouser legs. It was normal practice to take them off, but not to discard them, once a descent had been effected, since they tended to become uncomfortable if worn for any length of time whilst marching. F - JUMP BOOTS In addition to being issued with normal items of footwear, Fallschirmjager were also equipped with ‘jump boots’. These high-sided boots were intended to give additional support to the ankles, particularly important when landing by parachute. The first pattern boots laced up the side of the foot and ankle, with eleven or twelve lace holes (depending upon the height of the boot), to cut down the risk of fouling the parachute lines or canopy. They were manufactured in black leather and reached to just below mid-calf. The soles and heels were of moulded rubber with a large chevron patterning. They had no toecap seams, but had a broad reinforcing seam running along the front and back. The second model, front lacing pattern was introduced shortly after the outbreak of war, and was worn concurrently with the side-lacing pattern until sometime after the battle for Crete, when stocks of the original boot became exhausted. Of a more conventional design, the front lacing black leather boot was soled and heeled in leather and was usually studded. It was shorter in the ankle than the side-lacing boot. G - FLIEGERBLUSE (Flying Blouse) The fliegerbluse was introduced soon after the Luftwaffe came into being and was available to all ranks of all branches of the Luftwaffe. It was a single-breasted, fly-fronted, short-waisted garment with plain sleeves, manufactured from blue-grey cloth. It was designed to be a tight-fitting jacket, with an open neck and, when not in combat or on exercise, worn with a collar and black tie. Collar patches were in yellow, the Fallschirmjager Arm of Service colour. On the right sleeve of this tunic was worn a cuff title, dark-green for Divisional units and light green for Regiments. There was also a cuff title, worn on the left sleeve, for those who had fought in Crete and yet another when 5th Regiment was transferred to the Herman Goering Division. The former 5th Jager then wore the cuff title on their tunics. Note: The blue/gray collar seen on the soldiers is from the Fliegerbluse. H - CUFF TITLES (Not featured in this skin) The Luftwaffe method of distinguishing elite formations was to authorise its officers and men to wear a cuff title. The one issued to Fallschirmjager units was in green with Gothic lettering. To further distinguish between units, all ranks of 1st and 2nd Jager regiments wore a light green band. The other units of 7th Flieger Division carried a dark green band. In accordance with standard practice, a cuff title that identified the unit was worn on the right sleeve. Upon the declaration of war, however, orders were issued that Fallschirmjager units would no longer carry this distinctive mark. Even so, there were occasions during the war when cuff titles were issued as campaign decorations, and certain Jager were eligible to wear these. The first campaign distinction was the cuff band awarded for Operation Mercury – the invasion of Crete. This was white with the word ‘KRETA’ set between two stylised palm emblems, the whole embroidered in yellow. The second was the cuff band bestowed for service in Africa; in this case the background was khaki-brown, with the word ‘AFRIKA’ in silver thread. Those Jager who were eligible for both awards wore them, Africa above Crete, on the lower left sleeve. When the 5th Regiment, in Tunisia, was transferred en bloc to the Herman Goering Division, its officers and men were issued with the cuff band of that formation. This was dark blue with gothic lettering in grey (silver thread for officers). As a badge identifying a unit, this title was worn on the right sleeve. I - RANK The yellow collar patches with a set of 4 silver wings (the same pattern can be seen on the jump smock sleeve) is indicating an Oberfeldwebel, the equivalent of a Master Sgt. J- BELT BUCKLE The Belt buckle is from the Luftwaffe type (aluminum)!
http://bf1942files.com/sort.files?cat=1162&ref=1159 The DAS REICH file was put together based on historical graphic accounts. In the current version the following has been modified: - FELDGRAU color has been adjusted to be more accurate. - THE FOLLOWING BADGES WERE ADDED (and are correctly displayed): a) Close combat bar - above left breast pocket b) General assault badge - left breast pocket c) Iron cross first class - left breast pocket d) German cross (cloth; field version) - right breast pocket e) Ribbon bar: Iron cross 1939, Winter Eastern front, West wall medal - Below close combat bar f) Improved (detailed) SS aluminium belt buckle g) Alternate (detailed) SS sleeve eagle h) Corrected shoulder tabs (upside down in other skins!!!) SS Scharfuhrer (Staff sergeant) i) Late war feldgrau collar (very few uniform with dark green or black collar were still in use from 1943 to 1945) j) Feldgrau tinted tunic buttons k) DAS Reich cufftitle l) EVERY skin designer, to this day, left the WHERMACHT chest eagle on their SS skins. In fact, SS wore a specific BLACK and GREY eagle on their LEFT ARM ONLY. In the actual version, Whermacht green and grey \"national eagle\"was therefore removed. m) To my personal knowledge, there is no wartime photographic evidence of the divisional Rune being worn on the RIGHT collar patch (sorry lads, EA BF1942 models do not allow us to use different collar patches for each side! Let\'s hope it will be corrected in next versions!) However, it theorically existed, as divisional runes were regularly replacing the SS runes on collar patches (LAH, Wiking, Nordland etc...), I decided to use the graphically interesting DAS REICH rune, wich IMHO gives very good results. NOTE: EA\'s ORIGINAL MODELS do NOT allow us to provide an ACCURATE depiction of the following elements: - BOTH sleeve eagle AND cufftitle is supposed to be displayed on the LEFT arm only. - In the SS units, the right collar patch bears the SS or the Divisional RUNE(s) while the left collar patch indicates the rank. - Any Sniper, flag bearer, specialty badges etc... should be displayed on the LEFT sleeve any attempt to use such badges in BF1942 resulted in a ridiculously over-charged model since the badges appear on BOTH arms. The idea (a great one) was the dropped... - I am looking for a \"wool\" texture for the tunic and trousers. A fine sandstone effect in Photoshop looked great on the DDS layer, but resulted in a bumpy and shady uniform when tested in the game. Any help or suggestion (or filter!) would be appreciated. I WILL DO MY BEST TO EDIT VEHICLES (Tiger, Panzer IV, Kubelwagen) with the approprite tactical and divisonal marks in the coming weeks. Thanks for your patience and support! AQUILA
Division. A soldier's unit was designated by a series of patches on the sleeves of the blouse. At the top of the sleeve, at or near the seam, were sewn the regimental patches. For the parachute regiment these patches were originally white on maroon, but later changed to black/navy wording 'Parachute Regiment' on a light blue background. If a soldier in the airborne division had qualified in the parachute role (as opposed to the glider borne role) they would wear a jump qualification badge. This badge has a white/tan winged parachute on a khaki background. Next came the divisional patch, or 'flash'. For both the 1st and 6th Airborne divisions (as well as their support units) this patch is the famous white/blue pegasus on a maroon backing. This symbol represents the Greek mythological figure Belleraphon riding Pegasus. Beneath the divisional patches were airborne titles. These served as 'arm of service' indicators. These were more often worn by supporting troops and glider troops, and later officially proscribed in the parachute regiments. Happy Skinnig! [VS-UK]Herriot[6th3/7].
instead of throughout the week. It is friday, may 16th, at 1:54 AM in Kane\'ohe, Hawa\'ii. And I JUST finished taking screenshots of my new masterpiece. And yes it is as good as my previous one (if not better). These Cammies are almost exactly like the ones you\'ve probably seen on TV (the new ones with the dotted pattern) well I have them and I love them (and i\'ve mentioned before that i\'d make them). There\'s not much to explain about them...they come with new boots and new insignia (Corporal...looks nice, Even though I\'m no corporal I doubt there are many LtCol. anti tank guys...unfortunately) and I added little details like the USMC emblem that in real life shows up in the BDUS every 2 feet or so (you\'ll notice it in the sleeves although they are tiny like in the actual thing). So other than that it\'s pretty normal (yet beutiful). HOWEVER: ----------- I HAVE BROKEN NEW GROUND: by introducing to battlefield, the very first, THATS RIGHT, THE VERY FIRST, black man into the battlefield world!!!! Now you can engage in 21st century non-segraggated warfare by installing this skin on your hard-drive!!! How much of a genius am I? A BIG FRIGGIN GENIUS. IT\'S NOT OVER YET, BITCH! If you\'re a racist assmaster and you dont like black people in your frontlines I have included modified face skins for the caucasian Marines :P. Now you can play in the sun all day without having your retinas fried (thanks to me and my skills as a skinner). Personally I like a mix of the two, some maps black some maps white...unfortunately you cant mix them in one level because there is only one file for the HUD hands skin. INSTALLATION: DCTextures set HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Unzip file to any folder. Then open folder and make your pick; the black Marine (inside the Desert Camo folder) or the white/hispanic Marine (inside the White people folder). If you want the white Marines you\'ll have to copy it (the faces) along with the USSoldier, Amerun, Amerov, sleeve, bacpac, and ammobag skins, you\'ll have to leave the hands because those go only for the black Marines. After that copy the selected race of soldier into any level you wish to place it in. For Example: C:\\Program files\\EA GAMES\\Battlefield 1942\\DCTextures\\Iwo_Jima I honestly hope you enjoy this skin. Even though I only worked on it for 10 hours or so It\'s still a damn fine piece of work...and I really think it\'s another hit. And one that\'s worth uploading... So enjoy with all of my blessings for this is truly a file worth downloading. My next release will be the woodland version of these BDUS, maybe I\'ll add beards to everyone :D Special thanks: PorkN\'Beans (his easy tutorial got me into this mess Bf1942files.com planetbattlefield.com EA/DICE USMC (Don\'t sue me!) faces and hands.US-rangers with altered uniform colour, rangers patch and smoked faces and hands.Added orange battalion mark on helmet, the missing \"2\"is part of your imagination. The beach When on June 6th 1944 the first US wave landed on Omaha Beach at 6.30 a.m.,one major objective already had gone wrong. The massive naval gun fire had missed it\'s targets. The huge bunker fortifications on a lengh of 7000 yards, some on a height of 170 feet,weren\'t hardly damaged. The beach and water obstackles were still intact. The 1st and 29th division together with the rangers got nailed to the beach by heavy machine gun fire, mortars and howitzers of the 352.infantry division. It was formed 1943 out of the dissolved 321st division, who had served on the eastern front. So around a 3rd of the soldiers had intensive combat experience. The new recruits to build up the new division were between 19 and 20 years old and showed,as some reports say signs of malnutrion due to food shortage in Germany. When the division started to buy additional milkproducts, the physical condition of the recruits improved. The training got difficult due to ammo and fuel shortage .It is said that most of the recruits fired their weapons only three times live until D-day.Another problem was the high amount of time the soldiers had to spend with building the Atlantic wall, with some times only three hours a day left for military training. WHen US destroyers came as close as possible to the bloody Omaha beach and started firing at the German positions, eventually and with great individual bravery the US troops broke through the lines driving the German defenders inland. Imperial Japanese Landing Forces Skins

ijnlf.zip | 430 KB

Japanese soldiers portrayed on the Battlefield 1942 Maps would have been IJN Landing Force troops or "Imperial Marines". In most cases these troops were better trained than those of the Japanese Army. Proof of this can be seen due to the following comments from their U.S. counterparts... "Naval units of this type are usually more highly trained and have a greater tenacity and fighting spirit than the average Japanese Army unit." "Imperial Marines have earned the respect of their American counterparts for their espirit, discipline, marksmanship, proficiency with heavy weapons, small unit leadership, manifest bravery, and a stoic willingness to die to the last man." Gurki\'s Infantry & Airborne Skins

\"Operation Torch\", the invasion of North Africa, the first American campaign against the Axis powers. The Division then moved on to take Sicily in \"Operation Husky.\" It stormed ashore at Gela, July 10, 1943, and quickly overpowered the Italian defenses. On D-Day, June 6,1944, the Big Red One stormed ashore at Omaha Beach. Soon after H-Hour, the Division\'s 16th Infantry Regiment was fighting for its life on a strip of beach near Coleville-sur-Mer that had been marked the \"Easy Red\" on battle maps. As the assault progressed, the beach became so congested with destroyed equipment, the dead and the wounded, that there was little room to land reinforcements. Col. George Taylor, commander of the 16th Infantry Regt., told his men, \"Two kinds of people are staying on this beach! The dead and those who are going to die! Now, let\'s get the hell out of here!\" Slowly, spurred by the individual heroism of many individuals, the move inland got underway. After the beachhead was secured, the Division moved through the Normandy Hedgerows. The Division liberated Liege, Belgium, and pushed to the German border, crossing through the fortified Siegfried line. The 1st Inf. Div. attacked the first major German city, Aachen, and after many days of bitter house-to house fighting, the German commander surrendered the city on Oct. 21, 1944. The Division continued its push into Germany, crossing the Rhine River. On Dec. 16, 24 enemy divisions, 10 of which were armored, launched a massive counterattack in the Ardennes sector, resulting in what became known as the Battle of the Bulge. The Big Red One held the critical shoulder of the \"Bulge\" at Bullingen, destroying hundreds of German tanks in the process. On Jan. 15, 1945, the First Infantry attacked and penetrated the Siegfried line for the second time and occupied the Remagen bridgehead. On Easter Sunday, April 1, 1945, the Division marched 150 miles to the east of Siegen. On April 8, the Division crossed the Weser River into Czechoslovakia. The war was over May 8, 1945. At the end of World War II, the Division had suffered 21,023 casualties and 43,743 men had served in its ranks. Its soldiers had won a total of 20,752 medals and awards, including 16 Congressional Medals of Honor. Over 100,000 prisoners had been taken. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 29th Infantry Division \"Blue and Grey\" Website: http://www.29thinfantrydivision.com During the Second World War, the 29th Infantry Division played a decisive role when it successfully assaulted Omaha Beach on D-Day, june 6, 1944, as part of the great Allied amphibious invasion of German-occupied France. The D-Day landings were a turning point in World War II and the beginning of the end for Hitler\'s Nazi Germany. Later the 29th participated in the Normandy campaign, liberating the vital Norman crossroads city of St.Lô on July 18, 1944. Subsequently the division played key roles in the Normandy breakout, codenamed \"Operation Cobra,\" the liberation of Brittany and its critical port of Brest, the Rhineland campaign in Holland and Germany, and the final defeat of the German Army east of the Rhine River. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 45th Infantry Division \"Thunderbirds\" Website: http://www.45thdivision.org/ The 45th Infantry Division was formed shortly after World War I and was initially composed of National Guard units from four states; Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona. The division was among the first four divisions called to duty in World War II. In 511 combat days, the 45th had fought through four countries from Sicily to the foothills of the Bavarian Alps. The division had sustained over 20,000 combat casualties, making it one of the five hardest hit divisions in the Army. Eight Thunderbirds received the nation\'s highest honor for bravery, the Medal of Honor. General George S. Patton, then commander of the Seventh Army, summed up the true legacy of the 45th Infantry Division when he addressed the members of the division after their hard fought campaign in Sicily during World War II: \"Born at sea, baptized in blood, your fame shall never die. Your division is one of the best, if not the best division, in the history of American Arms.\" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 101st Airborne Division \"Screaming Eagles Website: http://www.campbell.army.mil/campbell.htm Upon the activation of the 101st Airborne Division on 16 August 1942 at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, its first commander, Major General William C. Lee, observed that \"The 101st has no history, but it has a rendezvous with destiny.\" Time and time again, the 101st has kept that rendezvous and, in so doing, has acquired a proud history. The 101st moved to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, for training and successfully demonstrated its readiness during the Tennessee maneuvers of 1943. Embarking from New York City in September, the Division continued training in England until D-Day, 6 June 1944, when its pathfinders became the first Americans to set foot in Nazi occupied France. The Screaming Eagles cleared the way for the 1st and 4th Infantry Divisions at Omaha and Utah Beaches. After 33 days of continuous fighting, including a bitter battle for the town of Carentan, the 101st returned to England to prepare for the liberation of Holland. On 17 September 1944, the Division seized and held the Eindoven-Arnhen corridor for 10 days against heavy odds and spent a total of 72 days in battle. In November 1944, The 101st returned to France for a well deserved rest, only to be called to action again in the Battle of the Bulge. While guarding the crucial transportation hub of Bastogne, Belgium, the division was surrounded by advancing enemy forces who demanded immediate surrender. The acting Division Commander, Brigadier General Anthony McAuliffe, made history with his classic reply \"Nuts!\". The Siege was broken on 26 December 1944, but the fighting continued until 18 January 1945. After moving through Alsace and the Ruhr Valleys, the 101st captured Hitler’s retreat at Berchtesgarden. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skin Information 101st Screaming Eagles skin set: - Added camo to the American faces. - Changed the field jacket into a M1942 Paratrooper Uniform - Added the 101st Screaming Eagles division patch to the sleeves. - Changed the standard infantry trousers into Reinforced M1942 airborne jump trousers. - Changed the field shoes into Airborne jumpboots. This can be used on the Bocage and Operation Market Garden map. 1st, 29th and 45th Division skin sets: - Added chickenwire to the helms * - Gave the backpacks a US logo * - Added the original Division patches to their sleeves. - Created 2 different skinsets for the US 1st and 45th infantry division. AQUILA\'S SS WHITE SMOCK - CAMO - V.1.0

ss_winter_light_smock_1.0.zip | 1.36 MB

cold weather field uniform (see\"SS HEAVY WINTER SUIT SKIN\" at http://bf1942files.com/file.info?ID=11460 ) The heavy parka and paddy trousers were created for two main purposes: 1- To protect Eastern Front troopers against one of the worst ennemy encountered by all the invaders who attempted to conquer Russia, from the Teutonic knights to Napoleon\'s \"grognards\": Cold and windy russian Winter. 2- To accomodate the soldiers by making their silhouette a little more discreet: Winter camouflage. Needles to say, feldgrau on white snow was kind of contrasting, and the Russians took advantage of the situation more than once. The first winter camo smocks were in fact no smock at all! A white pillow case or a blanket would fill the blank by providing a primitive but effective solution to most german soldiers\'problems. Pictures of infantery and artillery men wearing such hideous but handy outfits over issued great coats can be found in both books and across the WWW. But Winter was not an ennemy of an equal importance on other Fronts:in Western Europe, cold weather was not as bity as it was in Russia. Even more, German government was not interested in investing too much time and money in producing costy Winter outfits (well, the Parkas were not even widely distributed among the troops who needed them the most!) A clever and cheap solution was found: Reversible smocks. Camo smock with foliage pattern on one side (usually autumn - for season convenience ) were left white on the flip side. German troops (mainly SS) used it thtoughout 1942 - 1945. Most of the white camouflage devices used during the Battle of the Bulge (and in the following weeks) were either official or custom made smocks. B) GAITERS AND ANKLE BOOTS A Czeck once told me: \"When the Germans invaded our country, even their privates and corporals were dressing better than our generals: long black boots, fashionable tunics, ... then, few years later, we saw them sending back new teenage soldiers wearing low ankle boots, gaiters and short olive-drab tunics: we were convinced from that moment that War would end soon\". He was so right! With the Allies now daily bombing and the increasing rate of major defeats, Hitler\'s staff was running low on EVERY resources, including even leather and fabric. The long black boots were gradually replaced by ankle boot and gaiters. The M44 tunic came in existence around the same time. That feldbluse was directly inspired by the british battledress and shows a dramatic change in German uniform tradition. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MY VERSION OF THE WHITE SMOCK for BATTLEFIELD 1942 __________________________________________________ A) White smock Basically a camo smock, laced up on the chest, with no buttons, except for the to lower pocket flaps. I\'ve decide to \"open\" the top a bit so we can get a glimpse of the Feldgrau tunic. B) Ankle boots & gaiters The ankle boots (with laces) are replacing the regular jackboots to depict the changes that took place within the German army during the post D-Day era. Assorted gaiters with correct buckles were also consequently added. C) Hobnails We now have an accurate look for our troopers, from head to..the heels! D) SS RUNES I finally decided to replace the good lokking DAS REICH rune with original SS runes: as suggested by Jingo, The 1st and the 3rd SS divisions (LAH & Totenkofp) as well as the foreign SS volunteers (like the Wiking division, the Prinz Eugen divison, the Charlemagne division etc...) wore specific collar patches. As I WAS NOT able to locate any PHOTOGRAPHIC evidence of an equivalent use of it\'s own rune by the Das Reich Division, I\'ve decided to replace it. I will back off if any of you guys find the proof I\'ve been looking for, otherwise... E) GERMAN RED CROSS - NEWS! As I located the correct shields for the medic stahlhelm I suddenly faced a dilemma: wich side to choose? The Eagle shield looked great, but the RED CROSS on it was rather discreet... On the other hand, the RED CROSS shield with a swastika in the center was a little dull... Let\'s face it: all SS skins designers (including myself) almost automatically choose to display the SS shield rather than it\'s opposite (swastika). The same goes for the Whermacht soldiers who, 9 times out of 10, are featuring the EAGLE SHIELD (instead of the national black-white-red decal). This time, I took the liberty to mix both sides to create a shield that shows both the Red Cross and the Eagle... I\'m sticking to that solution unless you fellows ask me not to do so. F) WHITE HELMET COVER (scout) A brand new, realistic. white cloth helmet cover for all snipers out there! Complete with clipping and helmet showing.
Factor email: orbisfactor@hotmail.com web: http://ephargy.bazahr.com/orbisfactor/bf1942/bf1942.html +------------------------------------------------------------+ After seeing a picture of Italian Cavalry I decided to make a skin fo them. This is the end result, it\'s not 100% accurate, but is very close. Hope you enjoy it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- =|Installation|= If you have Merciless Creations TextureSets installed, all you have to do is copy the .dds files to the following map folders; Husky Baytown Anzio If you dont have Merciless Creations TextureSets installed, you will have to use the following method (replaces the skin for the Italians on all maps with the Italians on them); To use these files in the Retail version, you\'ll need Moseley\'s RFA Extractor to unpack the Refractor Flat Archive (textures.rfa). If you haven\'t already, download it at http://www.bf1942files.com Note: RFA Extractor requires Microsoft\'s .net Framework update to run. Download it at: http://download.microsoft.com/download/.netframesdk/Redist/1.0/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/dotnetredist.exe Note: After installing the .net Framework (SDK) you may need to download the msvcr70.ddl and mscoree.dll files. Get \'em at: www.dll-files.com , unzip and copy to your Windows/system folder. ========================= EXTRACT THE RFA ARCHIVE ========================= Use RFA Extractor to uppack your \"Archives/texture.rfa\" file to the main game directory \"C:\\Program Files\\EA GAMES\\Battlefield 1942\" RFA Explorer will automatically create the \"texture\" folder when you unpack. Remove/Rename the original texture.rfa archive to a safe place outside the Battlefield 1942 directory. You should now have the following directory structure: AdminTool Archives cache eReg Logs Movies MultiplayerServers Music save Settings texture
