"The Final Encounter"

the_final_enconter.zip | 16.73 MB

Combat _______________________________________________________ Introduction: You may have all heard of the "incidents" during operation Iraqui Freedom, in which United States Marines ran into Iraqui troops dressed in their civilian clothing, and pretending to be surrendering. As soon as U.S. Forces came near these soldiers, they would open fire on the troops, these events became some of the bloodiest and most hard-fought battles of the short-lived war. Using this as inspiration I decided to try and recreate what these scenes would look like inside of Battlefield 1942, even more so, Desert Combat. And when I begun work on the first marines, I had already known it would work out extremely well. The thought of fighting ragged, bloody, and fierce battles against an unforgiving and unmerciful enemy, is what I wanted to recreate. Of course there is no way I could make it feel like the real thing simply by changing the color of these 3D items, so I attempted new things which have never been seen on Desert Combat before, and with this I tried to get as close to the real thing as possible. For many people in the real battlefield, quarrels such as the one I described above were in fact their Final Encounter, and what most gamers should understand is that in real life there are no respawns, this was one of my goals. Scaring the crap out of you. _______________________________________________________ Contents: With this skin-pack you will find many amazing things, and many ugly things, ugly in a good way, so here's a short list of what I have created for the skin pack. Battle weary, bloody, civilian clothed Iraqui Forces (opposition) Battle weary, bloody, United States Marines (coalition) M1A1 T-72 Humvee BRDM2 Bradley Blackhawk M16 AK47 M25 Tabuk Beretta Hippo Remington Saiga And of course the bloody knives. From the M1A1 down: These are all Battle-weary-blown-the-crap-out-of-blood- stained-exploded and shelled skins. And you will love them. Included are several different faces including my black guy "Jamal" and an all-new bearded guy "Brian". The iraquis have custom faces as well. ________________________________________________________ Extras: Along with all of the beautiful skins, I have included many goodies, all packed away neatly inside the Extras folder, please make sure to check it out. ________________________________________________________ Installation: *NOTE* Please make sure you have the DCTextures add-on, if you do not, I have included it with this .zip, it is inside of the Extras folder. Also all of these skins are meant for Desert Combat .35e. To Install: Unzip all files to any folder you want, then pick out all of the RFAs inside of the Final Encounter folder, then place them on any level you wish to have it in. For Example: If you want it inside of Stalingrad, you would copy the files to: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\DCTextures\Stalingrad And that's it. _________________________________________________________ Recommendations: In order to get the most out of this skinpack I recommend that you turn your graphics to as high as you can possibly get them. They are very detailed skins and look best in high quality resolution. If your computer lags alot with high graphics settings, then try turning your sound quality, khz, and channels, to the lowest settings possible, it did a great deal of help for me. *Take advantage of the Extras I put here, If you don't already have them, try them out, you might just be the next Michelangelo of the bf1942 skinning world. I'm still learning things actually. *Use Merciless Creation's BloodFX on DC, you can do it by getting MC 4.0 and adding the following line to the DesertCombat init.con: game.addModPath Mods/MC1942_FX1/ using the BloodFX mod from Merciless makes this bloody battle all the more realistic, believe me. *This skin pack looks absolutely best on Berlin, Stalingrad, Kursk (the wood- land bloody cammos I put in Extras folder) Arbadeen, Battleaxe, and Tobruk. They look good in Kharkov as well, but it's kind of foggy in there, not as vibrant. *I attempted to put .rfa's here to allow you to play the other maps (like DC_Lost Village) with my skin, but for some reason they wont work. If someone finds out how to get it right (using the DCTextures) please contact me. (I'm doing something wrong with the init.con.) __________________________________________________________ Special Thanks: PorkN'Beans Headhunter (DCTextures) Desert Combat Merciless Creations PlanetBattlefield (and Gamespy) bf1942files.com DICE/EA PC GAMER WW3: Operation Phoenix CNN Photoshop RFA Extractor RFA Packer (same guy as above, sheesh I lost the readme) Coca-Cola Dunkin Donuts Whomever I forgot (like they care) And the United States Marine Corps __________________________________________________________ Now it's Time to Play: Hopefully you read everything, and if you did you're reading this, I spent several hours completing this skin pack, and I hope (as I always do) that you will enjoy it at least half as much as I do (those stalingrad fights are sweet) because if you do, it will mean that I did my job. Now get to your fighting soldier! Semper Fidelis, Titus Lieutenant Colonel United States Marine Corps ___________________________________________________________ Contact Info: Got comments? need help? just email me at sithlorda80@hotmail.com, I am sometimes found around the planetbattlefield forums. with a big one! This time not only skins for soldiers and vehicles,I reworked most of the buildings including the inside.Less a paint job, more like "dimming the lights".Just my interpretation of dirt and smoke in a bomb raided city. Added some propaganda where possible.I changed the soviet uniforms to more realistic brown tone, dirt on hands and faces. The T-34 has a darker brown colour and some hit damages like my old "Stalinetz" T34-85,I still like the camo! The axis soldiers have "blurred edge"camo and patch of 33rd French SS-volunteer division "Charlemagne".The vehicles with camo and hit damage and patch of 11th Scandinavian SS-volunteer Panzergrenadierdivision "Nordland". The city In the end of January 1945 after the soviet winter offensive the red army was only 40 miles away from Berlin. It was Josef Stalin's declared will to conquer the city before the western allies. In February and March more than 2,5 million soldiers, 6000 tanks and 7500 planes assembled for the attack. The German "forces" had around a million soldiers, consisting of beat-up Wehrmacht units,SS-troops of all kinds, some 800 tanks lacking fuel and ammo, police and the last resort "Volkssturm",old men and teenage boys, who could barely hold their rifles. The attack began on April the 16th 1945 and under heavy casualties the first soviet troops reached the outskirts of Berlin on April 20th.While Hitler decorated 12-year old boys with iron crosses and Göring and Himmler preferred to leave town, the civilians hid in the cellars waitng for the end.Meanwhile a pityless house to house, door to door fight had begun. The resistance of the remaining SS-troops was fanatic. Most of them volunteers from France,Scandinavia and the Baltics who joined the SS to fight the communists, knew that most probably a firing squad was waiting for them. It's an irony of history that the last defenders of the Reichstag were the Frenchmen of the division "Charlemagne".On April 30th the red flag was raised over the Reichstag, while Hitler had committed suicide a few hours before. On May 2nd,the last troops in Berlin surrendered,on May 8th Generalfieldmarshal Keitel signed the conditionless surrender of all German forces. The nightmare was over. Casualties: Soviets 305000 dead Germans(incl.civilians)325000 dead These dds files(lots of them!)need to be reconverted with MakerRfa,if you don't have a texture folder or MC3.7 or4.0(soon!) top. Patch of 10th SS-division \"Frundsberg\",Tiger with avatar of 506th schwere Panzerabteilung.Soldiers with palmtree camo,British 1st airborne division(the helmet is not correct,I know!)with div patch and corporal rank chevrons.Faces and hands of allies and axis battle smoked. Montgomery\'s plan was simple and daring. One huge airborne operation should end the war before winter 1944.The Rhine bridges should be conquered and open the way to Northwest-Germany and the industrial heartland.Although there were early warnings and against the advice of other commanders,Fieldmarshal Montgomery and his plannig head General Browning expected no major resistance. As a matter of fact the British 1st airborne division jumped almost directly on the 2nd SS-Panzerkorps,that was send to the Arnhem area to rest. The 9th and 10th SS-Panzerdivisions \"Hohenstauffen\" and \"Frundsberg\"cut off the paras, who held their position heroicly for 8(!)days(planned were 24 hours!),before they had to surrender.2500 were able to escape, more than 7000 were killed or wounded, the Germans almost 3000.This happened in september 1944 between the 17th and 26th. "Operation Zitadelle(citadel)" After the Stalingrad disaster Hitler needed a big victory. The Kursk salient(an earlier bulge)seemed as the right target.Being the logical next step in the German advance after conquering Kharkov in March 1943,the Russians anticipated this move. The massive troop set up and intelligence information from their "Lucy" spy network in Germany and intercepted ultra codes by the British gave the opportunity to trap the German forces and start a counter offensive. The military and some 300000 civilians set up massive minefields, tank traps,anti-tank gun positions,dug-in tanksand other fortifications.Furthermore huge forces were cocentrated.1,3 million men,3600 tanks,20000 pieces of artillery and 2400 planes were facing 90000 German soldiers,2700 tanks and 2000 planes. On the 4th of July 1943 the battle began. After both sides had massively bombed each other with artillery and air raids the German advance started with heavy losses of men and material. Most of the new tanks like Tiger,Panther and Elephant got stuck in the minefields and were shot to pices by anti tank artillery.Eventually the elite divisions "Grossdeutschland",and SS "LSSAH","Das Reich" and "Totenkopf" were pushing forward by forming the "Panzerkeil" meaning Tiger spearheads followed by Panther,PIV and PIII.Tanks were firing at each other at point blank range so both airforces were unable to join ground fight because the massive smoke and dust.It is reported that the temperatures in the center of the battle were so high that the bodies of the soldiers were burnt to ashes. When the allies landed in Sicily Hitler called off the operation. The Germans had lost around 100000 men dead or wounded and most of their armoured offensive capacities, the soviets 250000 dead,600000 wounded. These files are dds if you don't have a texture folder or MC4.0(finally!),they must be reconverted with MakerRfa. armored(Phantom)division, soldiers with winter helmets, green mitters, smoked faces and patch of 106th(Golden lions)infantry division. Axis:vehicles with winter camo,Wespe with war flag, patch of 12th ss division \"Hitlerjugend\",ss-troopers with reversible oakleaf camo winter-parka,brown camo-mitters,low boots, grey toque and battle smoked faces. As a compromise I made the 1st person mitters grey. The battle In September 1944 the allied troops had liberated Belgium.Units of the 1st US-army tried to enter Germany in the Aachen area, but were driven back by counter attacks. The Germans had stabilized their defense positions alongside the Siegfried-line. The allied advancement stops,as General Eisenhower has to wait for new orders.President Roosevelt is preparing the next election campaign and the Jalta-conference with Churchill and Stalin. So all is more or less quiet on the western front. Meanwhile the Germans prepare for a big strike.It\'s Hitler\'s own plan and therefore completely irrational. The main objective was to rush through the Belgian Ardennes, head for Antwerp, conquer it and destroy the harbour. The allies would have been cut off from the sea and vital supplies. The plan depended on the high-speed advancement of 2 panzer-armies in most difficult terrain and bad weather for allied air strikes, any major delay would be deadly.Fieldmarshal Model, the chief-strategic in the west(\"...this plan won\'t stand on two legs...\")and other high commanders warned Hitler and asked for achievable objetives. But after Stauffenberg\'s failed assassination on him,Hitler trusted no one anymore and didn\'t listen. The operation \"Wacht am Rhein\"(Watch at the Rhine)started on December the 16th 1944 at 5.30am,temperature -10°C and took the allied troops completely by surprise. As a massive armoured attack was the least expected in this tightly wooded mountain area, the defense lines were very thin.Although hit by heaviest German artillery fire, mostly unexprienced Gi\'s held their positions against the 1st ss- Panzerkorps(1st and 12th divisions \"Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler\"and \"Hitlerjugend\",3rd paratrooper division and 12th volks grenadier division).Another reason for the slow advancement was a massive traffic jam, when all these divisions tried to reach their positions in time. The 99th and 106th US-infantry divisions were almost entirely crushed or captured, but the 424th regiment of the 106th managed to escape and together with other survivors they held the vital position at St.Vih like the 101st airborne defending Bastogne and denying surrender(\"Nuts!\")to the ss.So the Germans were kept away from the allied fuel depots, they needed so badly for their offensive. When the weather cleared, the allied bombers gave them the final sting. On January the 28th 1945 the battle is over. The Germans had lost their last offensive capacities. The only achievement was a temporary \"bulge\" in the allied lines. US casualties:75522,8447 killed,46170 wounded,20905 m.i.a.or p.o.w. British casualties:200 killed,239 wounded,969 m.i.a.or p.o.w. German casualties:67675,10749 killed,34439 wounded,32487 m.i.a. or p.o.w. These dds files need to be reconverted with MakerRfa,if don\'t have a texture folder or MC3.7. takiwa's WWII Planes pt 1 - Japan - (Updated zip)

takiwas_wwii_planes_pt.1_-_japan_-_updated_zip.zip | 8.72 MB

1941-1945. Historical Notes: - All planes now have the correct 3-blade prop blur. - Both the Midway and Wake maps use the same planes. These are A6M2's and D3A1's based off the carrier Hiryu, which took part in both of those offensives. They are generic planes, belonging to no pilot in particular, and therefore bear no pilot-specific markings. The numbers are also generic, but based on a number pattern of the carrier group. - Coral Sea uses A6M2's and D3A1's based off the carrier Shokaku, which took part in this offensive and was sunk during the battle. They are generic planes, belonging to no pilot in particular, and therefore bear no pilot-specific markings. The numbers are also generic, but based on a number pattern of the carrier group. - Coral Sea also features the Shokaku re-skinned in a historically correct color (from several possible color schemes). This is based on my previous Shokaku skin, with more detail put into the deck planks and the door marker text changed. The deck was steel on the real Shokaku, but due to the way the textures are used, I decided to keep the wooden planks. - Guadal Canal features raiding A6M2's from the base at Rabaul (some 600 miles away), and D3A1's from the carrier Zuikaku, which patroled the waters around the Solomon Islands at this time. They are generic planes, belonging to no pilot in particular, and therefore bear no pilot-specific markings. The numbers are also generic, but based on a number pattern of the carrier group. - Iwo Jima features a land-based Nakajima A6M2, and a land-based D3A1, both with the correct color schemes for the time period. They are generic planes, belonging to no pilot in particular, and therefore bear no pilot-specific markings. The numbers are also generic, but based on a number pattern of the carrier group. Skinning Notes: - There were problems with the mirroring effect on most of this planes (especially with the tail numbers). - Some of the markings are not sized correctly (like stripes and fusalage identification markings) because of the restraints of the skin and model. - Dice set the D3A1 up to use the prop blur of the A6M2, so the spinner looks different when flying in 3rd person view (nothing I can do about this...) - I decide not to include the wrecked .dds files to make the file smaller in size. Wrecked planes only stay active on the screen for a few seconds, anyway, and the level of detail is hard to see, so the default files do the job just fine. - I researched these planes tirelessly over the past days, and the color schemes, numbering system, etc. that I used came from so many different websites, I can't list them all here. I hope I have represented each plane in a historical light...if not, I apologize. hippiewagen\'s owners in a time machine) to be at the front lines. These skins attempt to recreate that operation, which nobody really knows about. I\'ve also included 3 face skins to make the american troops a little more appropriate ;) WARNING: Not an historical skin. Nope, none at all... Thanks to: Rishy (aka C@$H) for giving me the idea The Merciless Crew, for making their AMAZING addons, especially the TextureSets. And of course Dice, for making such an amazing game! ----------- Disclaimer: ----------- The user accepts all liability and responsibility in the usage of the accompanying texture files. DO NOT publish any modifications to any of the accompanying texture files or package these textures as part of your mod, addon or TexturePack without first contacting me. ==================== TO USE THESE FILES ==================== Feel free to use these texture files on your personal machine or share them with friends. To most easily use these files in the BF1942 1.2+ Retail version, you must already have installed the Merciless Creations Historic addon, which installs TextureSets folders, or the Merciless TextureSets standalone addon. They\'re available at http://www.bf1942files.com and listed on the Merciless Download Index at http://www.bf1942files.com/file.stuff?body=MercilessCreations Use TextureSets, and spare yourself the annoyance of RFA extracting. No other software is required and you\'ll be up and running in minutes. When you\'ve installed the Merciless TexureSets addon: Extract these files to the appropriate map specific folder. For example, use Windows Explorer to navigate to your Bocage TextureSet folder. If you\'ve completed a default game installation to your C:>\\ drive, you\'ll find the folder at: \"C:\\Program Files\\EA GAMES\\Battlefield 1942\\TextureSets\\BF1942\\Bocage\" Drag the .dds files to the Bocage folder then close the Explorer window and Winzip. Run the game! Enjoy,
Soviet Vehicle Skin Pack

BF1942. All four of these vehicles use the same Green shade as used by the Soviets in WW2 making them more realistic. I have done a full reskin of the two Soviet tanks, the T34-85 features it\'s own identification number and freindly identification turret markings also with it own slogan, often used by the Red army troops which they painted onto their tanks, this being \"For Leningrad\". The T34 also has it\'s own slogan and ID number. The two American vehicles used by the Soviets, these being the M3a1 and Willys Jeep, I have kept similar to their stock (American) schemes (Because during the war the Soviets received plain green vehicles from the British and Americans and simply painted the Red army Star onto them) and I have also gave them their own wartime slogans.
work. All of these textures were developed by LT.DEADPIE In early February 1941, the Italian Army was on the brink of a disastrous defeat in North Africa. This situation prompted Hitler to send in the Afrikakorps, under the command of Erwin Rommel, who later earned fame as the Desert Fox. The DAK made its first contact with the British forces on 24 February and subsequently pushed the British back to the Halfaya Pass. The British formed the Eighth Army and stopped the German’s advance further into Egypt. With a long supply line, the DAK was forced to retreat due to increasing British attacks. 1941 and 1942 saw both sides fighting a seesawing battle in the Western Desert. Montgomery came to the scene in July 1942 and turned the tide for the British. With the undersupplied Germans pushed back to Tunisia, the Americans landed in Northwest Africa and eventually the Allies liberated North Africa. The 15th Panzer Division gradually arrived in Africa over an extended period of time from late April until mid-June, 1941. The light companies (Pz.IIs & IIIs) arrived at the front in time to close on Tobruk, and the medium companies (Pz.IVs) arrived at the front in July. The 21st Panzer Division was formed from a reorganized and strengthened 5th Light Division in October of 1941, and the 5th Panzer Regiment remained as its main armored contingent. The division symbol was widely and prominently carried on most of its vehicles. these colors/camouflages. - The Ju-87 is representative of an a/c of the special "Panzerjagdkommando Weiss", formed shortly before the Battle of Kursk by the Luftwaffe, headed by Hans Ulrich Rudel. It's primary mission was the destruction of Russian tanks and artillery with a new 37mm flak gun armament mounted in a pod beneath each wing. - The BF-109 is representative of an a/c from the II/JG 54, which flew missions over Kursk. This is a re-make of one of my earlier skins. The colors are now correct, and some new texturing has been added to the a/c, as well as a numerical change. - The Yak-9 is representative of an a/c from the Soviet 3rd IAK, which flew missions over Kursk. July 31, 1942, and was used by the USMC as an \"island hopper\", due to the Navy turning it down for various problems encountered while performing carrier landings. It wasn\'t until 1944 that the Navy adopted the Corsair for carrier landings (after the British perfected the landing method, and new revisions produced the F4U-1A for carrier-based service). The main carrier planes up to that date were the F3F and F4F Wildcats, which fought at Wake Island, Midway, and the Coral Sea. I have simply skinned the Corsair as a Wildcat would have looked during these battles. The only 2 historic Corsair skins in this pack would be the Guadal Canal and Iwo Jima skins. Maps and Planes: - Wake Island: F4F-3 skin of VMF-211, December 1941 (12 new F4F-3\'s...the only planes Wake had...were delivered the day before the attack by the USS Enterprise...which is why is was not at Pearl Harbor during that attack. Of the 12 planes, several were not even equiped with working guns and radios yet) - Coral Sea: F4F-3A skin of VF-2, USS Lexington, May 1942 - Battle of Midway: F4F-3 skin of VMF-221, June 1942 (this was the land-based USMC unit on Midway which fought the first wave...the airfield should NOT be neutral at the beginning of the battle) - Guadal Canal: VMF-124, Febuary 1943 (the first Corsairs to arrive at Guadal Canal) - Iwo Jima: VF-84, USS Bunker Hill, 1945 Installation: - This file requires Merciless Creations 3.7 or 4.0 - Copy the included folder \"BF1942\" to your \"TextureSets\" folder...typically located at \"C:\\Program Files\\EA GAMES\\Battlefield 1942\\TextureSets\". Overwrite all files at the prompt, if asked. - Play the game! takiwa@hotmail.com
