The skybox, while it looks great, suffers from the usual Battlefield pixelation and lack of color blending. Why Digital Illusions decided to do that with the sky textures I'll never know. And the horizon would've benefited from some fog or blending, something to alleviate the distinct line where sky meets ocean. These are very, very minor gripes because this map as a whole is a sheer blast to play. The majority of the time you get the impression that everything really is being lit up by moonlight instead of having the normal looking Wake Island with a night sky thrown in. In my humble opinion, everyone should play this map at least once.

love shooting down aircraft with flak cannons and the chances of having a target to shoot at here are definitely in one's favor. In fact, with so many aircraft to choose from, plane campers might almost end up being halfway useful! Well... it's possible. :p Now, the downside to having so many aircraft on the map is that it can cause some framerate issues for people, so be prepared to tweak your audio/video settings for the sake of performance. Also, getting your plane into the air is sometimes a little tricky due to having so much activity on the runway. This is more of a problem for the b-17 since the smaller fighters and bombers can take off pretty quickly on a small stretch of land. Drawbacks aside, this map is surprisingly entertaining and may even bring some harmony between the filthy plane campers and those of us that actually win the battle. :D If nothing else, pilots are likely to enjoy Aircraft Wake for its ample dogfighting opportunities in addition to it also being able to serve as an effective map for perfecting your bombing and flying skills. Note: There is an updated nighttime version of Aircraft Wake which replaces this one.

hedgerows after over a month of fighting for gains measured only in inches. At the sametime the German 2nd SS Panzer Division and the 2nd Fallschirmjager Corp, including the 3rd Fallshirmjager Division, attempt to desperately push the allies out of France and back into the sea. Saint Lo is meant to be a realistically portrayed urban combat map. 85% of the buildings are enterable and allow for a very dramatic battle. The city is sprawling and full of enemies. The attacking team must learn to deal with the numerous German infantry hiding in the buildings and on the rooftops. The Objectives: Axis: The objective of the Axis is to keep the Allies from gaining a bridgehead into the city. If the Axis can keep the Allies off the bridges or stuck on the other side of the city, they will bleed to death. The Axis have less tanks than the Allies and no planes, but they have better tanks and many flak guns on the roofs of buildings. Also there are numerous machine gun nests all around the map to help make this a defense friendly map. Allies: The objective of the Allies is two fold. Either they hold both bridges and an inner flag to make the Axis bleed (and at the sametime have a reinforcement flag to spawn in the city) or they control one bridge and three inner flags to make the Axis bleed. And it is slightly possible to completely push the Axis off the map (take all the inner flags) Key Flags: Main Street Bridge - This is one of the two main flags on the map. There are two bridges into the main city of Saint Lo, controlling these is key. If the Allies control both, they stop their ticket decay. If the Axis control both of these flags, the Allies will bleed unless they own all four inner flags. You CANNOT spawn at this flag. 11th Avenue Bridge - The second main flag on Saint Lo is similar to the Main Street Bridge, this has the same rules as the first. You CANNOT spawn at this flag.[/quote]

German radio from a farm they crashed next to, and using that radio called for help. A team of Allied paratroopers were dropped into the area to find the American bomber crew. Naturally, all this activity made the German units nearby curious, so they moved in on the crash site. The map is five control points, four creating a diamond shape around the perimeter of the map with one in the center. To trigger ticket bleed, you must either: a) Capture and hold both starting bases (\'Mill\' and \'Barn\') b) Capture and hold one starting base and at least two other control points (either \'Mill\' or \'Barn\', plus two of \'Ruins\', \'Farm\', or \'Armoury\') And here\'s a bonus: you can also play this in Road to Rome and Secret Weapons. The only changes are the vehicles and the teams that participate in the battle, however, it\'s still a fun change (the Grant\'s top gun is great against infantry because it\'s powerful and doesn\'t overheat). There are also a few jetpacks in the SW versions, and in RTR the German Assault pickup kits will have an Italian Breda LMG as a change to the SG44. See the installation instructions for more information. Forgotten Hope 0.7 support is also on its way. Also, when playing in the Vanilla version, on the spawn screen the Sniper kit has been replaced by an alternate assault kit with a SMG (Thompson or MP40) replacing the standard weapon. However, Scout kits can still be picked up from around the map. And one last thing. The M8 Greyhound. It was in the Secret Weapons map Raid on Agheila as a special vehicle. It was fast, lightly armoured, and had a fast-firing, low powered cannon. I needed a nice light tank for the SW version and the Greyhound fit the role perfectly. The model and most of the coding is by DICE, but I did do a slight reskin to change the desert tan colour to a more appropriate greenish colour, and had to recode the AI for it a lot as they were treating it like a jeep.

They lost the city of Kharkov again to Field marshall von Manstein some 29 days later during the last of the succesfull German attacks on the eastern front. That summer all German hopes for victory were destroyed after losing the epic battle of Kursk. In August\'43 when the Kursk offensive was repelled Kharkov changed hands for the last time. Nothing but ruins and rubble remained of what once was a proud city in the south of the Soviet Union. Now it is up to you to put on the (worn out) shoes of a Russian soldier of a Guards Tank Brigade. These units were very well equipped and prepared for extreme winter conditions. Stavka (the Red Army HQ) made sure these units were supplied with a steady stream of ammunition, medical supplies, wodka and food. You will be issued fully winter camouflaged vehicles, a padded winter coat and a mean flying machine called \"Tanja\" by the Red Army. Our American friends have sent their lend-lease vehicles as well. You are going to need all of these since it was VERY cold in the winter of 1943... You might notice the German vehicles and uniform were not modified. We decided not to do so since a lot of good German winter textures have been released already. Once you know how to handle a rfa extracting/packing utility you should be able to collect some cool German soldier and vehicle winter skins from the net and put them in.[/quote]

There are a total of 44 machine gun stations through out the map, some in bushes that are hard to find but allow the user to be hid and use the machine gun at the same time. I couldn’t get the machine guns to allow you to lie down while on the ground so it looks like you’re sunk in the ground while using them, but in bushes is hard to tell anyhow. I added three tree stands for the snipers out there who like to pick off your target high off the ground and in the tree cover. Embryo Island was created by using an ultra sound picture from my expecting wife. If you take a top view of the map at a real high altitude (in 3DMAX is the best way) you can see the baby and area around it.
