Battlefield 1942

RAF Squadron 268

Description:
File Description: - This Mustang represents an aircraft of RAF No.268 Squadron, Plumetot, Normandy, during July 1944. No. 268 Squadron consisted of Tactical Recon aircraft and were only

painted with invasion stripes on the bottom of the aircraft. In spite of this, these Tac/R Squadrons suffered the highest losses of all RAF units in the month following D-Day, mostly due to German ground fire. No.268 Squadron was one of the first RAF Sqns to move across the channel to France after D-Day. The squadron operated Mustangs until October 1944, starting re-equipment with Typhoon FR.IB\'s in September of that year. Although 268 Squadron kept some Mustangs until 1945, these were supplemented with Typhoons. The unit converted to Spitfire XIV\'s in April 1945. Changes: - I found 2 different images of this plane\'s paint scheme, with differing invasion stripes on the underside of the wing (one used the black/white scheme, and one used a single black stripe). I chose to use the single black stripe...if this is historically inaccurate, then I apologize... Map Usage: - This skin was made specifically for Operation Market Garden, but would still go good with Bocage... Installation: - If you are not using the Merciless Creations Texture Pack, you will have to extract your texture.rfa file and manually include the .dds files in this release. If you are using MC, simply copy these .dds files to the Map folder you wish to use this plane in. takiwa
